Re-Roofing to Sports Hall – Smithdon High School

Russen & Turner Architectural Design were tasked with preparing a specification and overseeing the tendering and contract administration process for the re-roofing and re-cladding of the pitched and flat roofs in the on-site Sports Hall. Due to the presence of hazardous materials, all the necessary “stripping out” works were carried out by a specialist contractor during a period when the facility was not in use. The close proximity of the nearby power lines required careful consideration of health and safety protocols as part of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) notifiable works. The new roofing system specified consists of profiled metal sheets that are suitable for the low pitch of the roofs, and it includes a fall protection system. For the flat roofs, a new fully warranted over-coat system was applied following core sampling testing and analysis, ensuring a high-quality and long-lasting solution.
